Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) is one of the main goals of what is called Advanced Manufacturing. Sectors as critical as aeronautics, railway, automotive and wind power require increasingly better monitoring of each one of the parts that make up the engines and other vital elements that they produce and fit. A large part of R&D&I investment of these types of companies is devoted to eradicating the risk of possible failures of their most important components. IK4-IDEKO leads the 4ZDM cluster that groups the European R&D projects regarding ZDM. Its international R&D project manager, Juan Antonio Arrieta, brings us up to date in the following article on this topic.
