We are a research centre that specialises in industrial production and manufacturing technologies, and we are integrated into the BRTA, Basque Research & Technology Alliance, an agreement between 16 technology centres and cooperative research centres belonging to the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Basque Government, the Councils of Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa and the SPRI Group.
Our activity covers the identification and analysis of opportunities, the design and development of products, business lines and production processes and the resolution of problems through the provision of technological services such as technical consultancy and equipment based services.
We are known for the scientific excellence developed in our 4 research groups which are aimed at advancing our specialisation. Our own organisational model encourages interdisciplinary work and we take special care in the qualification and professional development of our staff. We have the most up to date facilities and equipment and we are committed to collaborative work through the establishment of a wide range of contacts with leading centres at an international level.
We founded the Research Center IDEKO taking on the coordination and planning of the technological policy of the leading machine tool manufacturers.
We built a building exclusively for use of IK4-IDEKO and setting up of prototype workshop.
We lead our first European project, called SINTOMA.
We built the first prototype with linear motors manufactured in Spain. It was presented in Hannover.
We drew up the Strategic Plan 1997 - 2000, emphasising strong commitment to Total Quality as a strategic vehicle.
We affiliate in the Basque network of Science and Technology. We were classified us as Technological Innovation Centre, and we became members of FEDIT.
We consolidated its participation in European projects and started up of first ecological machining experiences.
We tarted of Integral Cooperation Agenda - with its Spanish initials PIC - with relevant companies of the machine tool sector.
We Scored of over 400 points in the external EFQM evaluation and EFQM consolidation certificate.
We developed the first Spanish commercial machine with linear motors.

We took on the first project in which the activities of all technology bidders of the sector in the Basque Country are coordinated, and directing 2 lines of the Science and Technology Plan of the MCC.
